First Book written by the only former United States President to resign his position. Six Crises was written before Nixon was President while his subsequent books were written during and post Presidency. Six Crises ends with his Presidential run.
Although he had many, Nixon's first and original "seventh crisis" was the Senate's surprise rejection of his second nomination to the Supreme Court, the southern conservative George Carswell. The acrimonious relationship that he then began with the Senate perhaps helped lead to his final "conflict".
